A very long weekend

A very long weekend

I'm literally forcing myself to blog before the events of the past five days escape my memory much-like any exam revision I've ever done. Really quite tempted to put matchsticks in my eyelids but that'd probably hurt quite a lot. It could also lead to permanent blindness, which would mean that I wouldn't be able to look up at the clouds in Victoria park and think about how nice it is when the sky's not just vast, but beautiful.

Thanks to the lovely Katherine, Twenteen was able to go to the Creators Project at Victoria House. Hosted by VICE, INTEL and having something or other to do with MARK RONSON, the basement venue was overtaken by an impressive amount of installations, workshops, bands, dj's and a multitude of creative types along for the ride.

Guests were treated to a plentiful supply of free drinks (including an awesome selection of tasty cocktails- Bacardi Rum + Ginger Ale = yum!) and there were also rows of laptops lining certain rooms providing free internet access for those eager bloggers/ tweeters to give a minute-by-minute rundown of the evening's events, presumably because being a basement venue, it was assumed that most people's phone receptions would be kaput. Twenteen, rather predictably, was far too busy 'testing' the booze to be quite so efficient.

There were even interactive light and video installations where the observer could affect the art, an audience-participation track creation POP PANEL, and screenings of Spike Jonze's short film, I'M HERE. Take a look at our exclusive super- duper Twenteen behind the scenes photos, taken by Dan Deroy on his snazzy, (yet signal losing) iPhone 4.

All-in-all, the evening was a jolly- good success, and in our humble opinion, was a fantastic and memorable creative treat, bringing together like-minded people in an inspiring environment. Yeah, it would've been great if there hadn't been such a mammoth queue for the women's loo, and yeah, the temperature in the auditorium reached unbearably tropical proportions during the POP panel, but those were two very small prices to pay indeed.

DOUBLE THUMBS UP FOR THE CREATORS PROJECT.

LOVEBOX.

Rolling into Victoria Park ridiculously late, Twenteen was armed with rucksacks full of issue one, ready to hand-out to an unsuspecting public. My original (stupid) idea was to leave a bunch outside the toilets, so people would have something to read on the crapper. Of course, pitch black and foul sticking portaloos are not exactly the reading place of choice for most sane individuals, so on realising this, we started traipsing the crowd and picking out selected 'chosen ones' to receive a copy.

During the height of sunstroke tipsy-ness, TWENTEEN was filmed by WINKBALL. Watch the disastrous affair HERE, where I completely forget to plug twenteen. Doh!->

I'm the 7th one.

For Twenteen, dancing to '**** the pain away,' as dusk turned to night, with quite possibly the best company in the entire world, elevated our already high opinion of Peaches. And determined not to let a tiny thing like a broken leg get in the way, Peaches was carted around stage in a wheelchair by a tranny. AMAZING.

THE LILYFRANCIS EXHIBITION
LILYFRANCIS.CO.UK

Arriving just in the nick of time before the doors closed, TWENTEEN was pleasantly surprised at this diamond of an exhibition, showcasing the impressive selected works of a group of global artists. It was actually the first time in our short history of attending such exhibitions, that we seriously considered a bank loan in order to actually buy one of the beautiful pieces.
The venue was quaint, spacious enough to walk around comfortably, with wooden floors that gave the feeling of an old village hall. The contrast of this with some of the pieces of photography worked spectacularly. Hats off to the wonderful and talented Francis L. Brooks and the other artists (see flyer above.)

Do make sure to check out LILYFRANCIS.CO.UK, and if you are in LONDON, pop down to the exhibition at THE GALLERY, STOKE NEWINGTON. The exhibition is open now until JULY 26th.

What an extended weekend! We're positively knackered, but back in the HQ, documenting, sorting, emailing, proof-reading and researching for ISSUE TWO. As ever, if you'd like to contribute, enquire, or just say hi, you can find us at
